Dayton's Matt Bowman, Douglas High's Brittany Puzey and Galena's Luxchmi Gill and Janine Bodo were among the University of Nevada athletes who earned all-Western Athletic Conference academic honors during the spring season.

The four athletes rounded out a group of several area athletes who earned all-WAC academic honors during this past year. To be honored athletes must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average and participate in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.

Bowman, coming off an outstanding sophomore year in baseball, carried a 3.30 G.P.A. in accounting. Puzey, a freshman in softball, carried a 3.56 G.P.A., Gill, a freshman in golf, carried a 3.54 G.P.A. and Bodo, a senior in track, carried a 3.32 G.P.A. in art.

Athletes honored earlier in the year were Galena's Annie Baxter, a senior in soccer, and Douglas High's Luke Rippee and Andy McIntosh in football. Baxter had a 3.92 G.P.A. in education. Baxter earned second team academic All-District honors three times.

Rippee carried a 3.65 G.P.A. in pre-business administration and McIntosh carried a 3.55 G.P.A.
