Public Safety Director George Togliatti has named Acting Chief Chris Perry as colonel in charge of the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Perry has been acting chief for a month since the resignation of David Hosmer amid allegations of harassment.

"After nearly 24 years with the division, his excellent law-enforcement insight and experience will be a tremendous asset for our department," Togliatti said.

His previous assignment was chief of the Department of Public Safety Training Division, running academies in Carson City and Las Vegas, as well as in-service training programs for both civilian and sworn public safety employees. Before that, he was commander of the highway patrol's southern command.

Perry said one of his top priorities will be a fundamental review of all programs administered by NHP.

He will be paid $110,000.
