A memorial service for Clara A. Schleicher, 89, a Carson City resident since 1984, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.

Mrs. Schleicher died Sept. 21, 2006, in Carson City. She was born Jan. 21, 1917, in North Dakota to Frederick and Clara Fernyhough.

Before moving to Carson City, Mrs. Schleicher lived in Chatsworth, Calif.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Carson City, was involved in the Indian Princesses through the YMCA, was active in school activities for her children, and was a noon duty supervisor for Superior Street School in Chatsworth, Calif.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Schleicher; brothers Walter and Wayne Fernyhough; and sister Lila Fernyhough.

Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Curt and Bonny Schleicher of Fremont, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Royal Johnson of Carson City; sisters Leona Kasten of Escondido, Calif., and Yolo Riccio of Bloomfield, Colo.; and five grandchildren.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
