The public is welcome to attend the 10 a.m. worship service of Eckankar, religion of the light and sound of God, Oct. 21 at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.


During the one-hour service, a facilitator will give a brief talk, with readings, a small-group discussion and a short contemplation.

Women's Aglow meets Oct. 14


Women's Aglow meets at 10 a.m. Oct. 14 at Stewart Community Baptist Church, 5340 Snyder Ave.


A potluck lunch will be held after the meeting. Attendees are asked to bring their favorite dish to share.


A time of worship and prayer will be held.


Women will pray for individual requests as well as for city, state, nation and world.


Aglow is a nondenominational international organization open to all women.

Wesleyan church hosts gospel quartet


Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church will host the Palmetto State Quartet at 7 p.m. Oct. 18.


This group has two songs on the Gospel Music's Top 100 Song List: No. 31, "Old Fashioned Altar Call"; and No. 46, "Living in the Sunlight."


The quartet has been traveling and spreading the gospel for 60 years since its inception in Greenville, S.C.. It is one of America's oldest continually touring Southern Gospel Quartets.


Kerry Beatty, Andrew Ishee, Burman Porter, Wesley Smith and Rick Fair are in the quartet.


There is no charge for the concert, but a love offering to the group to help cover expenses will be collected.
