A memorial service and visitation for William Christopher Lynskey, 86, a Gardnerville resident, will be noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Altoona, Pa. Entombment will follow.

Mr. Lynskey died Feb. 16, 2007, at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Gardnerville. He was born May 13, 1920, in Akron, Ohio, to Christopher and Louise Lynskey.

He married Rosemary Lynskey on July 18, 1942, in Baltimore.

Before moving to Gardnerville, Mr. Lynskey had lived in Miami, Reno, Seattle, San Jose, Calif., and Altoona, Pa.

He worked as a glazier and was a member of the Glaziers, Architectural Metal Workers and Glass Workers Union. He retired from Local 1621 in San Jose in 1985. He was a member of the Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Altoona and of the Knights of Columbus.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps' 33rd Fighter Group, 59th Squadron, as an airplane armorer during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his brother Donald Lewis Lynskey, and his wife Feb. 29, 1996.

Among his survivors are his sons Christopher Lynskey of Minden and Donald Lynskey of Sun City, Ariz.; two grandsons; two nieces; and a nephew.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home and the Santella Funeral Home of Altoona are in charge of arrangements.
