Forum begins with Assembly Speaker Buckley

Assembly Speaker Barbara Buckley, D-Las Vegas, opened the forum at noon thanking union members for hosting the forum and the candidates for attending.

She said all 37 of Nevada's democratic legislators were in attendance. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., said the West is going through a realignment.

"Democrats have an opportunity to harness this trend and take us to the White House."

He said there are no better examples of that realignment than the caucuses in Nevada and the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
