George R. Lane

George R. Lane, 77, a seven-year resident of Gardnerville, died July 10, 2007, at his home.

Mr. Lane was born Dec. 1, 1929, in San Francisco to George C. and Evelyn Lane. He married Delores Milback on Sept. 30, 1956, in Reno. Prior to moving to Gardnerville, he lived in Oregon and California.

He graduated from high school in Marysville, Calif. He was an aircraft mechanic supervisor for the federal government. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years.

Mr. Lane belonged to the Elks Club for more than 20 years. He enjoyed boating, riding his Harley-Davidson, fishing and his family.

Among his survivors are his wife, of Gardnerville; daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Brook Hathaway of Lincoln, Calif., Paula Lane-Ruiz and Jimmy Ruiz of Dayton; son David Choate of Reno; sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Pam Lane, and Michael and Terri Lane, all of Sacramento; brothers Jack Irwin and Gary Lane; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
