Larson fire has jumped Highway 395

Today's high winds have thrown embers over the fire lines around the Larson fire near Coleville, Calif. The fire has grown to more than 500 acres and is threatening about 50 structures between Larson Lane in Coleville and Cunningham Lane in Walker.

Engines and hand crews are on scene, but high winds have grounded the air attack.

The California Highway Patrol has closed Highway 395 to through traffic between Holbrook Junction (NV State Route 208) and CA State Route 182 in Bridgeport.

According to the Mono County Sheriff's Department, the fire is threatening approximately 50 structures. Neighborhoods between Larson Lane to Cunningham Lane in Walker have been evacuated. An evacuation center has been set up at Walker Community Center (next to the town park).

A Type I Incident Management Team is in the process of being ordered. Eleven fire engines, seven handcrews, three watertenders, and one dozer are on-scene
