A funeral for Louise Dougherty, 92, a longtime Gardnerville resident, will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Minden. A date has not yet been set.

Mrs. Dougherty died March 2, 2007, at Carson Convalescent Center. She was born Sept. 29, 1914, in Nebraska.

One of six children, Mrs. Dougherty grew up in Mississippi. She moved to California when World War II began to become a radio operator. There she met her husband, Bud.

In 1968, she moved to Lake Tahoe where she and her husband opened a barbershop. She then moved to Gardnerville where she worked for Bently Nevada as a cashier in the company's cafeteria. She retired in the early 1980s.

Mrs. Dougherty served several missions for the LDS church in the Southern U.S.

In addition to being a licensed barber, a trained radio operator and a cashier, she was a seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974.

Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Kim Dougherty of Carson City; granddaughters Denise Dougherty of Salt Lake City and grandson Mike Dougherty of Reno.

Burial will be at Happy Homestead Cemetery in South Lake Tahoe.

Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6490 S. McCarran Blvd., Reno 89509.
