Raising money for area 4-H activities was the purpose of events at Fuji Park on Saturday.
A large rummage sale drew steady traffic throughout the day in and out of the Exhibit Hall. Long rows of tables were filled with donated second-hand goods sold to help finance scholarships for 4-H members in Carson City and Storey County.
"It's one of our largest fundraisers during the year," said Geoff Landry, president of the 4-H Leadership Council.
The group also holds a fabric sale and car wash each year to help pay for the scholarships, Landry said.
Members of 4-Paws 4-H Dog Club also held a dog competition near the Exhibition Hall.
Awards were given for such canine distinctions as ugliest, largest and best costume.
The aim was to raise enough money to purchase dog agility equipment but they didn't reach their goal amount with this contest alone.

The term "4-H" refers to one's head, hands, heart and health. The national organization, 4-H USA, is described as a community of young people learning leadership, citizenship and life skills.
Livestock was the focus of 4-H for many years. It still hosts livestock competitions. Members across the country are now involved in an array of community and charitable activities.
