Two Gardnerville siblings remained in custody Thursday, suspected of attempting to cash a $10,000 check made on a computer.

Carlos Matthew Lydick, 24, and his sister, Jennifer Sarah Lydick, 21, were each booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony attempting to obtain money under false pretenses and forgery.

According to the arrest report, Carlos Lydick allegedly went to Wells Fargo Bank in the 1500 block of Highway 50 East and tried to cash the $10,000 check. When he was informed by the teller that the check was no good, Carlos Lydick allegedly left and then his sister returned and attempted to cash the same check.

Carlos Lydick allegedly told police he received the check from a friend.

The check appeared to be computer generated, stated Deputy Rick Encinas in the arrest report.

It was allegedly made out to Carlos Lydick and the signature on it was determined to be a forgery.

The account holder denied writing the check.

Each is being held on $20,000 bail.
