Friday weather; road controls in effect in Northern Nevada

The Nevada Department of Transportation at 6:23 a.m. reports the following road controls:

Highway 395 " Snow tires or chains required for 28.3 miles between 0.3 miles north of the California state line and 0.4 miles south of Stephanie Way in Douglas County.

Snow tires or chains required and high wind advisory for Washoe Valley " campers and trailers not advised from Eastlake Boulevard to Winters Ranch.

Highway 50 " Snow tires or chains required for 23.9 miles between SR 89 and 3.3 miles west of Highway 395 in south Carson City.

Chains required except for four-wheel drive vehicles for 23.6 miles between 2 miles west of Kyburz and 4.1 miles west of SR 89.

Interstate 80 " Chains required except for four-wheel drive vehicles for 44.2 miles between Drum Exit 150 and 0.9 miles west of Hirschdale Road Exit 194, California.

Other controls are noted.

Areas of utility work continue on Carson City streets, most notably on Fairview Drive from Silver Sage to South Edmonds, and on Highway 50 East from Saliman Road to Airport Road.

Expect delays on Highway 50 in both travel directions. Drive carefully through these areas.

Today's weather calls for area of morning fog; cloudy with scattered showers with highs 38-48 and light winds increasing to southwest 10-2- mph with gusts up to 30 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight, mostly cloudy with scattered snow showers in the evening; lows 19-29 with west winds 10-15 mph.
