Some chain controls on Northern Nevada roads

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:50 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exceptions:

Highway 395 " High wind advisory: Campers and trailers are not advised for 6 miles between East Lake Boulevard and Winters Ranch, through Washoe Valley.

Highway 50 " Snowtires or chains required for 11 miles between 10.6 miles east of Kyburz and 4.1 miles west of SR 89 in California.

Interstate 80 " Chains required except for 4-wheel drive vehicles for 35.1 miles between Drum, Exit 150, and Central Truckee, Calif.

SR 431 " Snowtires or chains required for 18.7 miles between SR 28 and 5.8 miles south of Highway 395.

Utility work is being done on Little Lane between Saliman Road south Stewart Street, mainly between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with lane restrictions on Little Lane west of South Roop Street.

Utility work is also being done on North Roop Street from East John to Long streets, and on Corbett street, west of North Roop.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays. There is continued work on Fairview Drive from South Edmonds to South Carson Street with lane closures and possible delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House has posted lower speed limits with narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.

Today's weather for the Carson City area will be cloudy with isolated snow showers in the morning with scattered showers in the afternoon. Highs 39-49 with light winds becoming southeast up to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight, cloudy with scattered rain and snow showers with snow levels lowering to near the valley floors. Lows 23-33 with northeast winds around 10 mph.

Saturday, mostly cloudy with scattered showers in the morning then isolated showers in the afternoon with snow level rising to 5000 feet. Highs 39-49 with northeast winds around 10 m mph with gusts up to 30 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday, mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers in the afternoon. Highs 38-48 with south winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph in the afternoon.
