The Nevada Department of Transportation at 6:35 a.m. reports the following road controls in Northern Nevada/California:

US Highway 50 " Snow tires or chains required for 18.2 miles between 0.7 miles east of the California state line and 3.3 miles west of Highway 395 in south Carson City. Also chains mandatory for 11 miles between 10.6 miles east of Kyburz and 4.1 miles west of SR 89, Calif.

Interstate 80 " Chains mandatory for 31.2 miles between Nyack Exit 156 and Central Truckee Exit 186, Calif.

SR 89 closed for 7.7 miles between 2.8 miles north of US 50 and Bliss State Park. Chains or snow tires required for 53.2 miles between Bliss State Park and Calpine.

Today's weather calls for mostly cloudy skies in the morning with southwest winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph, highs 33-43. Tonight, cloudy with a chance of rain and snow; snow level 5500 feet with southwest winds 10-15 mph, lows 17-27.
