More than a dozen weapons stolen in a pawn shop burglary in Fallon early last month turned up Tuesday morning in a Carson City park.

According to Carson City Sheriff's Chief Deputy Steve Schuette, dispatchers received an anonymous report at 4:48 a.m. of guns left in Fuji Park in South Carson City.

When Deputy Jimmy Surratt arrived, he located 18 guns in bags and on the ground, said Schuette.

Schuette said the weapons and bags were covered in mud and dirt, which could indicate that the items had at one time been buried.

The serial numbers on the guns were run through the computer, and all but two of them returned as stolen from Sierra Jewelry and Loan in Fallon on June 6.

Churchill County Sheriff Rich Ingram said, at the time of the burglary, that someone, possibly two people, broke into the shop at about 1:35 a.m. and made off with 20 guns of various makes and models. Ingram did not immediately return phone calls on Tuesday.

Schuette said the weapons were booked into evidence at the Carson City Sheriff's Department and late Tuesday morning detectives from the Churchill County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms collected the items.
