Senior center to host jewelry sale fundraiser


Throughout the year, the Carson City Senior Citizens Center collects jewelry and periodically holds large jewelry sales as fundraisers for senior center programs.


A jewelry sale will be held from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. today, 911 Beverly Drive. Jewelry donations can be left at the main center reception desk during weekday business hours.

Mural Art Program at Carson Colony


The Parent Advisory Committee of the Carson Colony will launch its Mural Art Program 6 p.m., tonight inside the Carson Colony Gym.


Donations are being sought for interior and exterior glossy, semi-gloss paints in a variety of colors as well as brushes, rollers, drop cloths. For information, call 884-4730 or 841-3182.




Downtown clean-up effort Saturday


The Downtown Consortium Beautification Committee is having a clean-up effort 7-11 a.m., Saturday, beginning at Third Street.

Veterans Dinner at Elks Lodge


The Carson City Elks Lodge will host a Veterans Dinner at 6 p.m., Saturday at the lodge, 515 N. Nevada St.


Cost of the dinner is $7 per person; veterans are free. Dinner includes spaghetti, salad and garlic bread.

Youth football title game Sunday


Scholars and Champions Youth Football League bowl games will start 9 a.m., Sunday at Carson Middle School, 1140 W. King St. Fall sign-ups will also be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.. Ages range from 8-14 in three divisions; cost is $125 per player. Scholars and Champions will also have cheerleaders this fall; $100 per cheerleader. The fall season runs from the end of August to the end of November. For information, call 267-5381.




'Run What Cha Brung' at car show


Karson Kruzers hosts their annual "Run What Cha Brung" car show June 27-29 at Fuji Park. Registration for vehicles is $75. All vehicles, makes, years and models are welcome. To register or for information, call 883-0927.

Fuelwood cutting permits for sale


Carson Ranger District will begin selling public fuelwood permits, Monday, June 16. Fuelwood cutting and gathering may begin that day and continue through Monday, Nov. 19. Permits are $15 per cord. Permits and maps are available 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, Carson Ranger District, 1536 S. Carson St.; 9 a.m.-4 p.m., daily, Markleeville Chamber of Commerce, No. 3 Webster Street, Markleeville, Calif.; and 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest Supervisors Office, 1200 Franklin Way, Sparks.
