A funeral service was officiated by Pastor Dwight Deaton on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the Christian Life Assembly of God Church in Gridley, California for Rev. Harvey "Wayne" Crawford, 85, of Gridley. He passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008 at his residence of natural causes.

Wayne was born July 22, 1922 to Harvey Wade and Etta Blanche Crawford in Spencer, Neb. He has six sisters and one brother. He graduated from North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minn. He met Nadeen Millard at college and they married in Fort Dodge, Iowa on June 1, 1948. They had three sons Duane, David and Jonathan. He began his ministry of 50 years as an Assembly of God Minister first as Youth Pastor in Fort Dodge, Iowa, then as Senior Pastor at Rolf, Iowa; Ilwaco and Chinook, Wash.; Yerington and Reno; and Biggs, Calif. He served as Presbyter of the Assemblies of God in Nevada for five years. He served in the Army's 31st Infantry Division in the Southern Pacific and Philippines during World War II. He later became a Major in the Civil Air Patrol, serving for 28 years in Reno and Oroville, Calif. He served as Custodian of the Gridley Unified School District just under 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Blanche Crawford; sisters Maxine Shaffer and Luella Purcell; and granddaughter Dawn Suzanne Crawford.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nadeen Crawford of Gridley, Calif.; three sons Duane Crawford, David Crawford and Jonathan Crawford all of Carson City; four sisters Loreene Martini of Sheridan, Wyo., Ileane and husband Ralph Hedrick of Longview, Wash., Cleo Arms of Buffalo, Wyo. and Phyllis and husband Bob Hunter of Tacoma, Wash.; and brother Bob and wife Beverly Crawford of Buffalo, Wyo.

Arrangements were entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel. Interment was held at Lone Mountain Cemetery on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, with Senior Pastor Stan Friend of Capitol Christian Center officiating.
