A former Carson City man is awaiting extradition back to Nevada from Illinois, where he is being held on a warrant for child sexual assault.

Leonard L. Stossel, 30, was arrested in Hancock County, Ill., March 18 on a Carson City warrant alleging lewdness with a child under 14 and sexual assault of a child under 14.

A criminal complaint filed in Carson City Justice Court on March 6 alleges that between Aug. 8 and Sept. 15, Stossel fondled a 3-year-old girl, and had her perform a sex act on him, all of which allegedly occurred on Tenaya Street in Carson City.

Detective Dena Lacy said an officer from the Hancock County Sheriff's Department interviewed Stossel, who was living in Nauvoo, Ill., at his father's home.

Shortly after the interview in which Stossel allegedly admitted the allegations, Carson City issued a warrant for his arrest.

He remains in custody without bail in the Hancock County Jail in Carthage, Ill.
