No. 6 SPANISH SPRINGS (2-0) AT GALENA (0-2)

When: Tonight, 7:30 p.m.

Where: Galena High School

Last week: Spanish Springs defeated Wooster 31-6; North Valleys defeated Galena 26-3

Players to watch: Spanish Springs " QB Richie Hernandez and Andrew Hodgkins; RB Todd Giordano; LB/DB Lucas Arciniega; DB Jalen Dixon. Galena: RB Jarrod Faust; FB/LB Taylor Tatro; OL/LB Jeff Belle; WR/PK Nick Dufur; DT Mick Johnson.

The skinny: The Cougars, 2-0, are led by running back Todd Giordano and quarterbacks Richie Hernandez and Andrew Hodgkins. The Cougars boast a top-notch kicker in Brandon Pelfrey. The Grizzlies' Jarrod Faust has been carrying the team offensively with two consecutive games where he's gone over the 100-yard mark. Quarterback Beau Bickel has been more of a threat running than passing. Galena needs to shore up its rushing defense. The Grizzlies have given up more than 200 yards rushing in each of their first two games.

DAYTON (1-1) AT No. 10 LOVELOCK (2-0)

When: Tonight, 7 p.m.

Where: Pershing County High School

Last week: Lovelock edged Whittell 22-18; Quincy (Calif.) beat Dayton 21-14

Players to watch: Lovelock" QB Dylan Bloyed; WR/RB Jesse Williamson. Dayton: QB Connor Conroy; RB Conner Oliver; TE/DE Tannar Wood; FB-LB Nick Bircheff.

The skinny: Conner Oliver, who gained 148 yards last week, and Nick Bircheff, who averaged more than four yards per carry, give the Dust Devils a potent 1-2 ground attack. Tannar Wood has been playing well on both sides of the ball. Lovelock was outplayed in the second half of its game with Whittell after bolting to an early lead.
