Mentor Center conducting food hunt

Mentor Center will conduct a hunt for food 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4 to benefit Food for Thought. Teams of four, two youth and two adults will leave the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada in search of food items. Food for Thought discretely provides a bag of food for Carson City's hungry, homeless children every Friday allowing them to eat on weekends. Carson City has 370-400 homeless children enrolled in its schools. Teams will be targeting neighborhoods around Seeliger and Fritsch schools. For information, call 445-3346.

Workshop on winterizing ponds

David Ruf will host a seminar on "Winterizing Your Pond," 10 a.m., today, at Greenhouse Garden Center, 2450 S. Curry St. The seminar is free, no reservations are required.
