Obituary: Melinda Kay "Mikki" Toews

Melinda Kay "Mikki" Toews, a Carson City resident, passed away April 3, 2009 at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 29, 1965 in Yuba City, Calif.

She graduated Carson City High School in 1983. She worked for Meeks Lumber in Carson City for 10 years, and Rapunzel's Hair Salon in Carson City. She was a member of the Warren Engine Co. No. 1 and attended First Presbyterian Church of Virginia City.

She is survived by her husband Ronald Toews; son Jake Helget of Carson City; mother and stepfather Linda and Paul Webster of Carson City; father and stepmother Francis and Sylvia Rakow of Hanford, Calif., mother-in-law Frances Rich of Walker, Calif.; brother and sister-in-law David and Christine Rakow of Carson City, stepsisters Michaelyn (Mark) Royer of Ft. Bidwell, Calif. and Julie Webster of Fallon; stepbrothers David (Cheryl) Webster of Washoe Valley, Tim (Keri) Webster of Reno, Bill Webster of Helena, Mont. and Tom Webster of Carson City.

She was preceded in death by son Joshua Toews and sister Kim Neuerburg.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who want to make a donation to the American Heart Association or the Liver Disease Foundation, American Liver Disease, No.CA/NV Division, 870 Market St. Suite 1048, San Francisco, CA 94102.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for arrangements.
