Carson City investigators are looking for a man who conned clerks at three convenience stores out of hundreds of dollars by claiming he worked for the company.

Detective Bob Motamenpour said a young man walks in carrying a check and a key. While he is there, another man calls on the phone and says he is with a company that supplies parts for the gas pumps and the check and key are for him. The caller then directs the employee to cash the check for the man in the store and claims he'll be in shortly to pick up the check and key. But he never arrives, said Motamenpour.

Businesses that fell victim were:

- Short Stop Market on April 11

- 7-Eleven 3838 Highway 50 E. on April 12

- AM/PM at 4190 S. Carson St. on April 13

Witnesses have reported the suspect as a man in his mid-20s with blond hair and "bright blue or green eyes."

A surveillance image at the 7-Eleven shows the man wearing a black and white Fox brand baseball cap, a brown hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and what appear to be black and white tennis shoes. He is about 5-feet-10-inches tall and of average weight.

Anyone with information on these crimes should call Motamenpour at 887-2020 ext. 41406.
