The Put Your Best Foot Forward Run & Walk brings people of all ages and backgrounds together, walking and running in support of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Carson City.

The race will be 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Long Ranch Park in West Carson City.

In Nevada, CASA volunteers primarily serve as guardian ad litem advocating for children taken into care by the state through a child welfare court case.

The CASA of Carson City Run & Walk will be timed, has categories for different ages and has a 5K route. The event is limited to 300 participants.

The second annual Rock-N-River Marathon and Half Marathon festival will be Sunday starting at 6 a.m.

An athlete dinner will be at 7 p.m. today at Harrah's Hotel and Casino in Reno. Registration and a health expo will be in the Harrah's Convention Center from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.

The half marathon begins at 7 a.m. Sunday and the 10K at 7:30 a.m.

A mile and a half fun run for kids will begin at 9:30 a.m. For more information, go to rock-nriverhalf-marathon.com.

Nearly 40,000 people will descend on downtown Reno's Truckee River Whitewater Park at Wingfield to enjoy three days of endless activities and entertainment during the sixth annual Reno River Festival.

The May 8-10 event features world-class whitewater competitions for pros and amateurs alike, the return of the popular, obstacle-filled "Run Amuck" fun run, free clinics, music in the park, delicious food from a variety of vendors, a beer garden offering local microbrews and an outdoor expo offering popular products on the market today.

The 2009 Reno River Festival also includes free yoga in the park each morning at 9 a.m. thanks to Yogic Lounge and regular appearances from the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales.

The second annual Run Amuck fun run is May 9 during the Reno River Festival.

Participants get down and dirty while crawling through a 60-foot-long mud pit and traversing a variety of other "mystery obstacles" during this costumed 2.5-mile, two-person relay race from downtown Reno's Wingfield Park to Idlewild Park and back.

The ruckus begins at 1 p.m. with the costume contest and the race starting at 2 p.m.

Participants are invited to the official Reno River Festival Kick-Off Party at West Street Market the night prior to pick up race day packets and goodie bags. Registration is $50 per two-person team and includes entry into the costume contest.
