1. Dogs on the run: For those of you whose dog is of the couch-potato variety, you'll marvel at these bundles of well-trained energy as they leap over, around and through obstacles at lightning speed.

The ninth annual Pepper/Sampson Memorial Classic agility trial to benefit canine cancer research will take place this weekend at Fuji Park in Carson City. The competition starts at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The competition hosts between 90 and 110 dogs, and most participants have also lost dogs to cancer. The event, which includes a raffle and silent auction, has raised more than $80,000 over the past eight years for canine lymphoma research.

2. Classic cars for a cause: Colonial Bank, 2330 S. Virginia St., Reno, will host the 11th annual Classic Car Show to benefit the Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare Foundation from 6-10 p.m. Friday, July 24.

The event features more than 150 vintage and antique cars and trucks and will include live music, raffles, prizes games, an Elvis impersonator and food. Proceeds will benefit the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, which provides treatment for patients from throughout Northern Nevada.

3. Bard under the stars: Shakespeare at Sand Harbor is presenting "Measure for Measure" and "Much Ado About Nothing" rotating nightly Tuesday through Sunday with musical entertainment every Monday night. 7:30-10:30 p.m. at Sand Harbor, Highway 89, North Lake Tahoe.

With gourmet food and drink at Shakespeare's Kitchen, nightly wine tastings and time with friends and family, each performance provides an outdoor theatre experience within a festival atmosphere. 4. Il Divo, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Reno Events Center.
