A resident of Carson City since 1971, Margot Arthur passed away quietly Sunday, July 19, 2009, in Carson City. She was born December 23, 1917, in Erfurt, Germany, to Dr. and Mrs. Hof, and was educated in England. She moved to the United States in 1938.

She was married 47 years to Lt. Col. John Arthur, U.S. Army, retired. She was a journalist, author of children's books and a biography of Pearl Buck. She was also a translator, speaking, reading and writing three languages fluently. Margot did freelance articles and columns for the Nevada Appeal and other publications and received many awards over the years. She was a lifelong Episcopalian and a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Carson City. She was also a breast cancer survivor.

Margot was preceded in death by her beloved husband John and her son Robert.

A service for the residents of Sierra Place will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
