Paula Marie Springmeyer Reed, 87, a lifetime resident of Carson Valley, died June 13, 2009 at Carson Valley Residential Care Center, Gardnerville. She was born July 1, 1921 to Herman C. and Pauline Jepsen Springmeyer in Minden. She was preceded in death by daughter Marcia Lynn; parents; brother Leslie Springmeyer and her husband. Among her survivors are son and daughter-in-law Brett Reed Sr. and Carolyn; daughter Karen McGee; grandchildren Brett Reed Jr., Erik Lee, Seth Lee and Laurel Winterbourne of Reno; great-grandchild Hunter Reed; sister Myra McCollum of Carson City and numerous extended family members. A graveside will be 11 a.m., Thursday at Garden Cemetery in Gardnerville. A reception will follow at the Methodist Church hall on Centerville Lane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Douglas County Animal Shelter or St. Mary's Hospice Care. FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
