Harold Lockwood Long

Born August 8, 1919 in Joplin, Mo. to Daniel Leroy Long and Emma Long. He passed away Feb. 27, 2009. He was 89. Married to Jeanette L. Hanson since July 31, 1956, they moved from Burbank, Calif. to South Lake Tahoe to start their family and long-time business of 53 years, Long's Jewelers. In 1989 they moved Long's Jewelers to Carson City where they were in full operation until their retirement January 31, 2009. He was a generous and kindhearted person who loved making people happy with his custom design and creations of jewelry. He was loved by everyone who met him. Harold was a veteran of World War II having served his country in the special service division of the United States Army. He served in Bangalore India, Project 19-Africa and the Philippines.

Harold is survived by his wife Jeanette, sons Dennis, Mike and Greg, twin daughters Shari Baugbman and Tari James; brother Delbert and sister Shirley as well as 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be 10 a.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Carson City. A Military Funeral with honors will be 1 p.m., Friday at the Fernley Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

He will be deeply missed by all.
