The Episcopal Church Bell. The old cracked bell has been taken from the belfry for repairs, but that will not preclude a large and devout attendance to hear the pearls of Christianity and logic drop from the eloquent lips of Rev. Geo. R. Davis, the pastor.

The Marriage Law. A slight additional financial pressure is now brought to bear upon those who intend to enter upon the state of matrimony in Nevada. The Carson Clerk receives a fee of $1 for issuing the marriage license, and another dollar is for the County Recorder. The officiating minister or magistrate is required to file the certificate of marriage with the Recorder within thirty days after the date of the ceremony.

The Nevada senate adopted Senate Resolution No. 11 offered by Senator Ira L. Winters: "Whereas Former Governor R. K. Colcord will soon celebrate his birthday marking the one hundredth milestone in his lifetime."

Births: Born at Carson-Tahoe Hospital Mr. and Mrs. Allistar MacSween of Zephyr Cove are parents of a boy. Mr. and Mrs. Don Mattingly of Gardnerville are parents of a girl.

AB 222 was presented in the Assembly making it illegal to store high-level radioactive waste in Nevada. The chief sponsor, Assemblyman Jim Schofield said the measure would give Congress "nothing but a clear signal" from Nevadans that they do not want the federal government to build a nuclear waste dump at Yucca Mountain.

- Sue Ballew is the daughter of Bill Dolan, who wrote this column for the Nevada Appeal from 1947 until his death in 2006.
