The identity of a man killed in a single-vehicle accident on State Route 341 late Friday was released today.

Bret Vernon Martin, 42, of Gold Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 10 p.m. accident one mile from the Highway 50 Junction near the Chocolate Factory.

According to Trooper Chuck Allen, Martin was northbound when he "drifted across the double-yellow line, over the southbound lane and then onto the west shoulder."

Allen said Martin's 1992 Ford Ranger struck two markers posts, and Martin overcorrected. The vehicle rolled and Martin was ejected.

The truck then came to rest on its wheels just off the east dirt shoulder.

Martin was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
