High wind warning through Washoe Valley

There is a high wind advisory in effect in the area until about 8 a.m.

High profile vehicles are not being permitted through Washoe Valley.

The National Weather Service issued the following advisory:

...WINDY CONDITIONS TO CONTINUE THROUGH MID MORNING...

A moist Pacific Storm moving across the great basing will keep windy conditions across portions of Western Nevada and the Eastern Sierra today. The strongest winds are expected through mid morning along the Highway 395 corridor mainly south of Reno and into portions of Highway 95 in Mineral Valley.

Motorists should use caution and remain alert for sudden gusts or cross winds. Travel (is) restricted for high profile vehicles along Highway 395 (in Washoe Valley) through the morning commute.

High Wind Warning replaced by a Wind Advisory in effect until 8 a.m.

* WINDS: SOUTHWEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH. LOCAL

GUSTS UP TO 60 MPH IN WIND PRONE AREAS SUCH AS WASHOE VALLEY AND

FOOTHILL LOCATIONS WEST OF CARSON CITY AND MINDEN.

* IMPACTS: MOTORISTS SHOULD DRIVE WITH EXTRA CAUTION AND REMAIN

ALERT FOR SUDDEN GUSTS OR CROSS WINDS.
