The Carson City Board of Supervisors will consider at its Thursday meeting whether to authorize spending of $1,500 from the Redevelopment Authority's revolving fund to support the Sierra Nevada Ballet's Christmas Peanutcracker and $3,000 for Pinkerton Ballet Theatre's Annual Nutcracker Ballet.

Supervisors must decide whether the expenses are needed to ensure the success of the redevelopment plan. The plan, which was adopted by the board, states that it is to "encourage and assist in providing people-oriented special events and promotional activities for residents and visitors of all age levels."

Based on previous years, these long-standing events attract thousands to the downtown during times that are otherwise quiet and inactive, according to a report from the Office of Business Development.

Also on Thursday, the board will:

• Hear a report on Carson River Watershed regional activities.

• As the Liquor and Entertainment Board, it will discuss the status of Pizza Hut located at 2441 N. Carson St. The liquor license holder or responsible party was told to appear at the meeting after disciplinary action was taken at the previous meeting for a second offense of selling alcohol to minors.

The board meets at

8:30 a.m. Thursday in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. Go to www.
