Obituary: Alice Ruth Van Osdal

Alice Ruth Van Osdal, 92, passed away October 18, 2009, in Henderson, Nev. Alice was born February 20, 1917, in Plano, Ill., to Robert and Lena Perkins. She had resided in Paradise, Calif., more than 30 years before moving to Carson City in 1996. Alice moved to Henderson in June 2007. She owned a paint store in Paradise.

While living in Paradise and Carson City, Alice was a member of the Methodist Church, member of the sorority of Beta Sigma Phi, and a member of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She had worked with Campfire Girls for more than 13 years. Alice enjoyed craftwork, knitting, sewing and reading.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Van Osdal, three sisters and one brother.

She will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Sandra La Nae of Carson City, and Kathleen Adkins and her husband Roy of Henderson. Five grandchildren, Melanie McMahon, Kimberley Dominguez, Steven Adkins, Arthur Whitney and Shantell Davis. Also eight great-grandchildren, Bailey Adkins, Madison McMahon, Cameron Adkins, Christofer Adkins, Cheyanne Adkins, Matthew Whitney, Hannah Whitney and Leona Dominguez.

A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at Walton's Chapel in Carson City.
