Marvin T. Miles
Beloved Husband, Father, and G-Pa
We will miss your
Infectious Laughter,
Warm Smile and Sparkling Eyes
Marvin Travis Miles, 76, United States Navy Seaman (1951-1953 USS Walton DE 361), passed peacefully in the comfort of his Carson City home with his beloved wife, daughter-in-law and proud grandson at his side Oct. 20, 2009.
Marvin was born Oct. 5, 1933 to Calvin and Dorothy (Parker) Miles in Los Angeles, Calif. In 1972, he moved to Carson City where he raised his family. He worked for Carson Tahoe Hospital until 1992, when he retired as Chief Engineer. In 1995, he was married to Joan (Bird) Miles with whom he shared wonderful memories as they traveled to Davis Lake, the ocean and cross-country in their motor home.
Marvin loved his family, life and the outdoors. As a hunter and avid fisherman, he treasured his outings with his good friend Bob, but they usually brought home more "fish stories" than fish.
Marvin was preceded in death by wife, Betty (Nelson) Miles, his daughter, Linda Miles and by sister, Clara Erickson.
He is survived by his wife Joan Miles of Carson City; children Mary Ellen Peixato of Santa Rosa, Calif., Kathleen Gill of Indiana, Kimmberley Presley of San Clemente, Calif., and Michael Presley (Richaun) of Carson City; brothers Gordon Miles of Rogue River, Ore. and Philip Miles of San Bernadino, Calif.; sisters Lorraine Roberts of San Diego, Calif. and Carol Dominguez of San Bernadino, Calif.; granddaughter Ayla Peixato and grandsons Jesse and Devin Presley.
His family is grateful for all the love that was given to Dad during his last days at home and a special thank you for the support we received from Saint Mary's Home Care and Saint Mary's Hospice.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Oct. 28, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the Relief Society Room, 411 N. Saliman Road. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow at Lone Mountain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans Hospital in Reno. Arrangements entrusted to Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Carson City.
