Nevada Day concert

The Capital City Community Band will open its 31st concert season with a free "old-fashioned band concert" 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Nevada State Railroad Museum.

The band will perform Sousa marches, Broadway tunes, patriotic music and even have their own musical locomotive race. For more information, call Richard Doede at 883-2219.

High Sierra Swing Dance Club, as a co-production with Brewery Arts Center, present a six-week series of dance lessons on Wednesdays, Nov. 4, 11 and 18 and Dec. 2, 9 and 16 at the BAC Grand Ballroom, 449 W. King St., Carson City.

West Coast swing beginning lessons start at 6 p.m.; Hot Social Dance Patterns at 7:30 p.m. No partner is necessary.

The Carson Valley Sinfonia will present its annual fall concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, in Minden's CVIC Hall.

The concert is sponsored by the Carson Valley Violin School, the Carol Fancher Seebach Studio and Friends of the Carson Valley Youth Orchestra.

The Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park in Minden over Nevada Day weekend to enjoy a special historic clothing exhibit.

The display includes women's, men's and children's clothing from the 1890s through the 1960s. Displays feature clothing worn by Henry Fred Dangberg Jr., and his wife, Gertrude Hieronymous Dangbe-rg.

Other features of the exhibit will be clothing worn by the Dangbergs' four daughters, beginning with their childhood in the 1910s through their later years in the 1970s.

The exhibit will be open from noon-4 p.m. on Friday through Sunday. Admission is $3 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Visitors should dress in warm clothing.

The park is located at 1450 Highway 88, one-half mile south of the Carson Valley Swim Center. A map and other information is online at parks.nv.gov/hr.htm, or by calling 775-783-9417.

Regular tours will not be offered during the exhibit.

Mile High Jazz Band presents Gents Sing Jazz, a program of big-band music featuring several male vocalists, on 8-10 p.m. Nov. 10, at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson St.

Guest vocalists include Kevin Reed, Mike Allen and Speedy Garfin. Sheryl Adams will join the gents for duet arrangements.

The magic and splendor of Siam comes to Carson City as the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company brings Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic, The King and I, the Carson City Community Center.

This captivating musical will play weekends, Nov. 7-22 at the Carson City Community Center.

Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7, 13, 14, 20, 21 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 8, 15, 21, and 22. Prices $20 general, $18 students, and $16 seniors and children.

The Performing Arts Collaborative, presents "Dracula: The Musical," a rollicking musical melodrama based on Bram Stoker's timeless tale of vampires and ghouls. The show runs in the Black Box Theatre at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St., at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 20, 21 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 15

Prices are $15 for students, seniors and BAC members and $18 general.

The Misfits Theater Group is presenting an original melodrama "Klondike Gold or Shenanigans in the Far North," directed by Jan Duke and written by Tony Thornburg.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Nov. 6, 7, 13, 14 and at 3 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Odeon Hall, 65 Pike St., Dayton.
