Run outhouse run

Don't miss Virginia City's World Championship Outhouse Races, Oct. 3 and 4.

This two day event kicks off with an outhouse parade at noon Saturday on "C" Street. Race heats follow every half hour until all racers are finished.

Race finals start at noon Sunday. This is a double elimination tournament, which means a team must lose twice before being completely eliminated.

After the first race, Virginia City commences with the first ever StinkE Day Long Johns and Bloomers Contest. Categories for prizes are: Ladies Sexiest, That Takes Guts, Please Put Your Clothes On, Most Original, You?re Mama lets You Out of the House Dressed Like That?, and Best Dressed.

The Outhouse Races are a tradition for the historic town. Local businesses decorate their outhouses, train for the running, and invite others to join.

Several out-of-state outhouse racers bring their outhouses to join in the festivities.
