Volunteers needed to serve on city panels

The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications for volunteers to serve on the Convention & Visitors Bureau.

There are three openings for two-year terms to expire in July 2012. Representatives are sought for citizen-at-large, hotel/motel industry and commercial interest other than hotel/motel.

This commission oversees all tourism matters within Carson City. Meetings take place at 4 p.m. the second Monday of every month at the Community Center in the Sierra Room.

Applications will be accepted until May 27.

Supervisors also are seeking applications for the Carson City Library Board of Trustees.

This committee oversees all library policy and budgets. It meets at 5:30 p.m. the fourth Thursday of every month in the Sierra Room of the Community Center.

Applicants must be willing to serve approximately six to eight hours a month. There is one opening for a four-year term, expiring June 2014.

Applications will be accepted until May 17.

Volunteer applications may be obtained on the city Web site, at City Hall, 201 N. Carson St., or by calling 887-2286.
