130 YEARS AGO

The Seven Fishers: Yesterday afternoon the seven men convicted of catching fish at Pyramid Lake, which is in the reservation, were called up for sentence. The leader was fined $1,000 and the six $500 each and one day in jail. When fishing by net, they were warned off by the United States Agent, but refused. Troops were called from Fort Halleck. They captured the troops with a big fish fry, but they just kept on catching fish. They were finally arrested by a United States Marshal. They will remain in jail until the fines are paid.

100 YEARS AGO

A season unprecedented of social gaiety is promised for those attending the upcoming legislative session. Who remembers the season of eight years ago when John Sparks came into office? The regular order at that time was social pleasure and music, song and festivities day and night. It is rumored that Gov. Oddie will inaugurate a particularly festive administration with his new bride in the mansion.

Miss Sade J. Grant returned to Carson last evening after spending the past two weeks in San Francisco.

Carson City's annual Christmas present to motorists will go into effect Dec. 20 to the start of the New Year. The Christmas present is: Free parking downtown.

Thirteen-year-old Peggy Littmann (Barccelli) of Minden is one of the many survivors of Pearl Harbor. Her father, Robert, memorialized the incident with an oil painting in the years following the attack.
