Workshops at Lone Tree Gallery

Jan Rollenhagen offers gourd art workshops, 1-4 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month starting Jan. 5 and continuing through May at Lone Tree Gallery in Minden. Cost of $36 per workshop includes materials and use of equipment. Other workshops include two-day pastel classes with Thaleia Georgiades on Jan. 7-8 and Jan. 14-15, silk painting with Louise Noel on Feb. 5, and oil painting with Greg Drinkwine on Thursdays. Auditions for 'Cinderella'

Auditions for TOAD's stage production of Disney's "Cinderella" are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 8 at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School, 701 Long Valley Road, Gardnerville Ranchos. Students age 5-11 should prepare a one-minute song. Rehearsals begin Jan. 9.

Toccata-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus is going baroque

The baroque series program includes Handel's Organ Concerto Opus 4 #5, Teleman's Trumpet Concerto in D minor, Vivaldi's Concerto for 2 Violins in A minor, and the Bach Cantata #4.

Performances are:

• 7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 15 at St. Patrick's Church, Incline Village;

• 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, South Lake Tahoe;

• 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17 (Martin Luther King Day) at the Olde Truckee Arts and Recreation Center, Truckee, Calif.;

• 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral, Reno.

High Sierra hosting swing classes

High Sierra Swing Dance Club, as a co-production with Brewery Arts Center, presents a six-week series of dance lessons, Wednesdays starting Jan. 12 at the BAC Grand Ballroom, 449 W. King St., Carson City. Rainer Herms teaches basic West Coast swing and intro to nightclub two-step, 6-7:30 p.m.; nightclub two-step and hustle intermediate, 7:30-9 p.m. No partner is necessary; drop-ins welcome. Cost is $51.50 for one class and $91.50 for two classes, with a $5 discount for BAC members. Signups accepted at second class.
