Carson incumbents plan to run for re-election

The 2010 election could be lively in Carson City, with a number of incumbents up for re-election and two seats wide open due to term limits.

and District Attorney Neil Rombardo both face

re-election this year, as do Clerk-Recorder Alan Glover, Assessor Dave Dawley and Treasurer Al Kramer.

Furlong has announced he will run again. Rombardo announced Friday he also will seek another term.

Dawley said he has decided to run for a third term, and both Kramer and Glover said they will run for a fifth term.

Four school trustee positions are open. The District 1 seat held by Norm Scoggin is open since Scoggin has reached his term limit. Stacie Wilke from District 3 and Randy Carlson from District 6, who were both recently appointed to the board, said they had not decided whether they would run again.

Lynette Conrad from District 4, who was appointed to the board in January, said she plans to run.

Both incumbents on the board of supervisors have reached their limits. The Ward 3 seat held by Pete Livermore and the Ward 1 seat, which will be vacated by Robin Williamson, will need filling this year.

Williamson has announced her intention to run for the Nevada Assembly seat being vacated by Bonnie Parnell. Livermore said he is exploring some options and has not decided if he's ready to retire.

The filing period for city seats is from March 1-12.

Judicial filings started this month and continue through Jan. 15. They are not affected by term limits.

Carson City Chief Deputy Clerk of Elections Sue Merriwether said there will be no judges on the Carson City ballot.

She said she doesn't anticipate any issues this year during the voting process. She said the bar code scanning last election went well in helping the count.
