Obituary: Helen Joy (Murchie) Sanders

Helen Joy (Murchie) Sanders, 97, died Jan. 24, 2010, in Carson City. She was born Aug. 29, 1912, in Yerington to Alexander Murchie and Ida Anna Knierim.

The family moved to Sacramento, Calif. in 1919. Helen attended schools there and graduated from Sacramento High School in 1930. In 1937, she married Conley F. Sanders. He died in 2003 after 65 and a half years of marriage. She and her husband were active members of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Sacramento and also founding members of Camellia Chapter of Wine Shrine of Jerusalem. Helen retired from the State of California in 1971.

Helen is preceded in death by parents, sister Eunice Good and brother Lester A. Murchie. She is survived by two sons, Richard C. and wife Sandra of Dayton and Ronald L. and wife Patricia of Placerville, Calif.

Helen's family would like to thank Sierra Place and Tracy Mann for the loving care given to Helen in her final days.
