Carson City road report for June 14-20

For the week of June 14 -20:

NDOT will continue fog sealing sections of Hwy. 395/Carson City Freeway next week resulting in temporary closures at some interchanges. The following temporary ramp closures are expected to occur, weather permitting:

• Carson Street off ramp (Monday)

• Arrowhead Drive on ramp, College Parkway southbound off and on ramp (Tuesday)

• Highway 50 East northbound on ramp, College Parkway northbound off and on ramp (Wednesday)

In addition, there will be a potential lane closure Wednesday of northbound Carson Street from Arrowhead Drive to the merge with the freeway.

As a result of the next phase of the NDOT project on the freeway, Koontz Lane will be closed between Raglan Circle and Edmonds Drive until January 2011.

Because of water utility improvements, the following activities are scheduled to occur:

• Fairview Drive will be reduced to a single lane between Butti Way and the Fifth Street roundabout with flaggers on weekdays during daytime hours.

• The east end of Hells Bells Road between Riparian Way and Parkhill Drive will be closed to through traffic (local traffic allowed) all week. Detours will be marked.

The Roop Street widening project will continue this week with the following impacts expected:

• Long Street will be closed to all through traffic from Roop Street to Stewart Street. Eastbound Long Street traffic will be detoured at Stewart Street to Lee Street and Beverly Drive, while westbound Long Street traffic will be detoured at Marian Avenue to Beverly Drive. Local traffic will have access outside of the working hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

• Roop Street is closed from William Street to Stewart Street through the completion of the project. Traffic may cross Roop at Corbett Street.

The Nevada Department of Transportation is working to add a third northbound lane on Highway 395 between Jacks Valley Road and Lupin Drive. The following activity is expected for this project.

• Work continues with single-lane closures on northbound Highway 395 between Jacks Valley Road and Lupin Drive between

8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Shoulder work will continue during the daytime hours with no impacts to traffic.

• Work on Lupin Drive continues at the intersection with Highway 395/Old Clear Creek Road. A single-lane closure and flagger-controlled traffic will be in place with minor delays expected. Working hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The following closures will occur due to special events:

• Proctor Street will be closed between Curry Street and Carson Street from

7-11 p.m. on Friday.

• Third Street from Curry Street to Carson Street, Curry Street from King Street to Musser Street, Curry Street from Proctor Street to Spear Street, and Telegraph Street from Carson Street to Nevada Street will be closed on Saturday for the Taste of Downtown event. All closures will occur between

3 p.m. and midnight, with the exception of Third Street, which will close at 2 p.m.
