Rodgers and Hammerstein's beloved musical "The Sound of Music" continues this weekend at the Carson City Community Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company production features some 40 performers and a 14-piece professional orchestra. Gina Kaskie-Davis is the choreographer.

Winner of multiple Tony and Academy awards, this musical tells the story of a postulant who proves too high-spirited for the abbey and is sent to serve as a governess for the seven children of a retired naval captain. She brings music back into the home and captures the hearts of the children and their father.

"It is an impressive and engaging cast," said director/producer Stephanie Arrigotti. "They are each incredible performers with distinct personalities, bringing wonderful energy and depth to this beautiful story."

Tickets are $20 general; $18 for students and seniors; and $16 for youth 17 and under and are available at Realty Executives, 1071 South Carson St., or by phone at 775-445-4249.
