Letter Carriers' food drive successful

The Letter Carriers "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive on May 8 was a big success. We would like to thank the Letter Carriers, the school children of Carson City, Minden and Gardnerville for taking the message home, the volunteers from Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville and Dayton who sorted thousands of pounds of food at F.I.S.H. in Carson City and especially all the good people of Carson City, Douglas and Lyon County who contributed to the Food Banks within their area. All food received will be distributed to feed the needy and homeless in the county in which it was collected.

Because the need is so great this year, all food banks are stretched. The continued support of the community is needed especially during the summer months to provide for children who are not in a school food program. Visits to your local food bank helps your neighbors in need.

Fairytale theater production delightful

The stage presentation of "Sahara Nights" at the Carson City Community Center was one of the most delightful performances we have ever seen in Carson City. It was funny and well acted by a cast picked perfectly by Director Jake Linstrom. It was his senior project and he obviously has great talent in theatre. His producer, Karen Chandler should be very proud of Mr. Linstrom and of all of the actors - kudos. Carson City is lucky to have this kind of talent come from Carson High School.
