Children's theater offers 'Summer on Broadway'

Wild Horse Children's Theater presents area youths with a summer of theater through it "Summer on Broadway 2010."

WHCT artistic director Carol Scott and Producer Pat Josten will work the students

Classes are:

• Nick Tickle, Fairy Tale Detective, 4-7 p.m. July 12-29 (Monday-Friday first two weeks and Monday-Thursday, third week); plus performances. For ages 8-14. Instructor is Jonathon Josten. Cost is $125.

Performance dates are 1:30 p.m. July 30 Artown; 7 p.m. July 30; 4 and 7 p.m. July 31; 4 p.m. Aug. 1.

Camp will work on acting and performance skills, theater games, teamwork, making props & the set, costumes, hair & makeup, lighting & sound effects. This show will perform one weekend at the Children's Museum and also at Artown in Reno.

• Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse 10-11:30 a.m., July 19-23. For ages 5-7. Instructor is Lillian Schaupp. Cost is $50

Parent presentation 7 p.m. July 23.

Based on the books by Madison's award-winning children's author Kevin Henkes

Camp will cover acting and performance skills, theater games, teamwork, arts & crafts. Camp will culminate in a special presentation for parents and friends the last day of camp.

• Funny Just Happens: IMPROV for everyone, Aug. 9-21 (Monday-Thursday for two weeks with combined shows 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 20, 21.) Cost is $100.

Ages 10-14 at 4-6 p.m. Instructor Jonathon Josten. Cost is $100.

Ages 15-adult at 6:30-8:30 p.m.

This workshop is framed to be an introductory course into the initial principles and rules of improvisation. We will work on beginning games, scene work, character play, and lay the groundwork for sketch comedy.

• Summer internships are also available for ages 14 and up to work with and assist camp instructors, Jon Josten and Lillian Schaupp.
