Artisan Cafe expands into Carson Street site

A new cafe bakery is expected to open in the former City Cafe Bakery location, 701 S. Carson St., in late November.

The Artisan Bakeworks Cafe is owned by Danny Works, who also runs the Artisan Cafe out of the Brewery Arts Center.

He said the business will offer breakfast and lunch. He also will use the kitchen to bake fresh bread for his two locations.

"It's the same kind of concept of what we're currently doing here inside the Brewery Arts Center, so it's going to be all the same sandwiches and lunch," Works said. "The only thing is we're going to try to incorporate some of the fresh baked breads and pastries. We're still going to have some of the specialty coffee drinks as well."

Works said the new location opened at a time when his cafe, which opened in November 2008, was looking to expand.

City Cafe Bakery closed in August.
