St. Peter's Episcopal Church Caregivers Support group is meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday to plan its first holiday "Care Affair" for caregivers and their families.

This event will be the first of it's kind to combine caregivers and their loved ones with a musical sing-along program full of food and fun.

The St. Peter's Caregivers Support group has tackled many serious medical, legal and emotional issues in the past by providing expert speakers and interactive support sessions.

Nationally, it is estimated that more than 45 million Americans will be a caregiver to a seriously ill or disabled spouse, family member or friend at some time in their life. Most often the goal of caregiving is to try to keep their loved one at home or in the home of a family member and not transfer them to a convalescent residence.

Caregivers sacrifice their valuable time, energy and resources in an effort to keep this promise to the patient/family member.

The Caregiver Support group meets the third Thursday of each month to find answers, exchange caregiving information and provide support for each individual who usually has a very unique set of caregiving challenges.

This month's meeting still will provide support to caregivers, but it will also challenge the participants to help create a memorable and fun agenda for November's "Care Affair."

All are welcome to join this dedicated group in the Rectory of the church, which is located on 300 Division St. (between Procter and Telegraph streets). Call Deb Cash at 887-8846 for more details.
