Carson Middle School's eighth-grade girls basketball team won three straight games to capture the Tah-Neva League championship over the weekend.

Carson Middle, 19-0, knocked off Carson Valley 27-24, as Serena Miller scored all but three of her team's points. Andrea Maffei contributed a basket and Lindy Lehman added a free throw.

"The game was a typical Carson-Douglas battle," CMS coach Doug Whisler said. "It had a high school atmosphere to it. It was so loud in the gym they my players could not hear my instructions from the bench. It was definitely championship basketball. Both teams fought hard and didn't leave anything on the court."

Carson Middle opened with a 39-16 win over Whittell. Bailey Allen led the way with 11 points and Lehman added 10. Carson followed up with a 27-16 win over Alder Creek, as Serena Miller scored eight with Lehman and Alli Kibbe adding six each.
