Less than 5 seconds determined the winner of the sixth annual Dust Devil Triathlon on Saturday at the Churchill County Fairgrounds.

Reid Weber slipped by Justin Clark to capture the 2013 overall title to end Clark’s two-year rein. Weber clocked a time 59 minutes, 53.5 seconds for a course record, while Clark notched a mark of 59:59.4.

On the women’s side, Lucy Rice won the title with a time of 1:15.34.5, about 7 minutes faster than Courtney Robinson.

Participants competed in a 525-yard swim at the indoor pool, a 14.5-mile bike ride and a 2.92-mile run.

“We had 75 participants this year, which is a third straight sellout,” Churchill County Parks and Recreation Supervisor Danny Gleich said. “It was a beautiful day and the weather cooperated by staying cooler throughout the morning for what was a very exciting race.”

The women’s winner for each age group is as follows: Hailey Bunker (1:37:08.1, 15-19), Tania Gent (1:43:25.5, 20-24), Danielle Whitaker (1:33:52.2, 25-29), Rice (30-34), Tamme Tillous (1:31:16.7, 35-39), Laura McDonald (1:24:49.6, 40-44), Traci Ricks (1:36:55.5, 45-49), Liz Muckerman (1:29:48.1, 50-54) and Christine Swanson (1:29:30.7, 55-59).

On the men’s side, Clark (20-24), Weber (30-34), Thomas Hanks (1:09:33.1, 35-39), Brad Johnson (1:20:14.1, 40-44), Tim Ward (1:07:05.6, 45-49), Jim Souba (1:21:04.6, 50-54), Stewart Jorgensen (1:24:00.8, 55-59) and Steven Marquardt (1:14:22.3) each won his respective groups.
