Elwood “Woody” Rakow was born February 17, 1945 and passed away October 13, 2013 at the age of 68. He is survived by his brothers, Knox, Arnold and Rodger Rakow and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Woody lived a full, wonderful, friendly life. He was generous to a fault and devoted to friends and family. Woody was a Washoe Tribal Council Member and maintained a job at the tribe where everyone knew and loved him. He also hunted, loved bowling, was an avid golfer and enjoyed his woodcutting business. Woody will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A viewing will be held at Walton’s Funeral Home in Gardnerville, NV from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2013. Services will be held at the Washoe Tribe - Woodfords Gymnasium in Diamond Valley, CA on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 10 a.m., graveside services will follow at the Fredricksburg, CA cemetery.
