The next Citizen’s Academy for those who want to learn more about how the sheriff’s office operates is set to start Sept. 3.

Each week, a different department of the sheriff’s office will do a class including patrol, the crime lab, coronor’s office, traffic and records as well as the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Each class will start with a question and answer period by either Sheriff Ken Furlong or Undersheriff Steve Albertsen.

Classes will be held Wednesdays from 6-9 p.m. There’s no charge but the number of seats is limited. Applications must be completed by Aug. 29.

Interested citizens should apply at the sheriff’s office on East Musser or call Ken Smith at 887-2020, ext. 41932.
